Hundreds of times each weekday in Forsyth County, volunteers deliver hot food and warm smiles to the homes of the elderly who cannot prepare their own meals because of poverty, disability or other factors. For many, this visit is their one daily link with the outside world, the connection that enables them to continue to live at home. At the same time, it provides peace of mind to relatives to know that someone is visiting their loved ones on a daily basis.
The goal of Edible Evenings is to raise at least $100,000 annually to help fund Meals-on-Wheels services and take care of seniors who may be at risk of malnutrition.
Senior Services Meals-on-Wheels program is the oldest home-delivered meals program in the Southeast.
Senior Services, Inc., is a private, nonprofit agency whose mission is to ensure the elderly of Forsyth County live independently and with dignity. In addition to serving seniors through the Meals-on-Wheels program, Senior Services also operates the Elizabeth and Tab Williams Adult Day Center, Home Care, Senior Lunch, Help Line, Elder Care Choices and Living-at-Home programs.
